1. Describe or define DSS.
2. Distinguish DSS from MIS.
3. Illustrate (give examples) how DSS can improve company's competitive advantage and organizational performance.

1. Decision Support Systems (DSS) are a specific class of computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-making activities. A properly-designed DSS is an interactive software-based system intended to help decision makers compile useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and/or business models to identify and solve problems and make decisions.

2.DSS provides both problem solving information and a communication capabililty for solving semistructured problem while MIS as a computer based system that makes information available to users with similar needs.

3.The implementation of a decision support system does not necessarily yield competitive advantage. This article covers the three criteria that must be met in order to use your DSS to such an advantage.

*The widespread use of computer technology has changed the way companies do business. *Information technology has altered relationships between companies and their suppliers, customers and rivals.
